Data Visualisation for Researchers

Prof. O.E.Olubusoye Facilitating the Training

This training is starting with the basic aspect and we hope to get to the most advanced part of the course in other training sessions. In this basic part, you will learn: (1) how to interrogate your data; (2) how to examine your data; and, (3) how to test your data to check assumptions. The overarching objective of the course is to help you to understand your data; make sense from your data; check for patterns, trends and relationships in your data through visualisation methods. To achieve this objective, we have opted for a software called R, which has a triple advantage of being free, comprehensive and its use is growing rapidly. However, no prior experience of the software is required or assumed.

You can download and install the latest version of the software yourself as guided in the link.

The training is part of the statistical capacity building initiatives of the University of Ibadan Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis (UI-LISA). The lab is a member of a conglomerate of stat labs called LISA 2020 Network under the directorship of Prof. Eric Vance, Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Colorado Boulder, USA. The overarching vision of the network is to build statistics and data science capacity in developing countries. This training was generously supported by the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and LISA 2020 Network.

You can download and install the latest version of the software yourself as guided in the link.
